Open Data Objectives:

To publish government data in a way that will make it more discoverable, accessible, interoperable and reusable
The Portal will support the publication of high-value datasets to meet demand and contribute to the achievement of real economic, social and democratic benefits for citizens, business and the Public Sector.
Open Government Data can lead to a more informed community and can assist entrepreneurs to deliver new digital services to South Africa.

Framework to effective BPM

Define Open Data Framework
Define an approach for identifying datasets held by each operational business unit
Define the approach for the release of open data
Establish or pilot a web service or API for the release of data
Ensure Participation in activities designed to advance open data, e.g. GovHack competition
Release data that demonstrates an open and accountable government
Create business improvement and technology enabled projects to consider open data principles and data collection improvement
